BPW River City Creates Joining Forces to Support Veterans
So you started a new position at a new company. Wow, things are so different, and there is so much to learn. Their processes are different, they use different software, and how they manage people is even different.
Now put yourself in the shoes of someone who was in the military for 10, 15 or 25 years. Let’s just say you entered the military at 18 and you have never written a resume, never been on a job interview, and you are 43. You have this long list of accomplishments and outstanding reviews. How do you take your military resume and translate that into something that will wow hiring managers in the corporate world?
BPW and Joining Forces wants to collaborate with other organizations in the community to help build a network of resources for veterans, specifically female veterans, to ready them for the workforce. Through mentoring and coaching on items as simple as resume writing, and how to dress for interviews, we want to create the best way to help our veterans through classroom training, focus groups, mock interviews, or individual time.
Would you like to make a difference and share your expertise?
Give back to the veterans of our community?
You can be a part of the Joining Forces Committee, serve as a mentor for a military veteran, engage your employer, or refer a veteran – the opportunities for involvement are just an email away.
Are you a Veteran?
If you are a veteran yourself and are looking for access to the great programming above, please contact Joining Forces Co-chair Leslie Mann at firstname.lastname@example.org or Joining Forces Co-chair Teresa Aldridge at email@example.com for information on how to get connected to resources to help you.
BPW River City wants to connect to you.
